Yes, the cholesterol you eat is not the problem, it is what your body does with the food that is of concern. You should shop for foods that are low in saturated fat and trans-fat, and if you want to be sure of not adding to your cholesterol problem, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.

In fact, a vegetarian diet is very good for lowering cholesterol. That doesn't mean we need to become vegetarians, but consider aspects of such a diet more often when you are shopping for food and cooking.

And what are healthy levels of cholesterol? Generally, a reading in excess of 200 mg/dL is considered high, so we should aim for a level below that.
